Statewide Program hosts imagery in GCP
The State of Texas has been using the Giza system to access Google orthophoto imagery since 2015. Read the Texas Giza imagery serving story.
Texas is among a handful of states that has recently shifted from Google Imagery products to the Hexagon Imagery Content Program, a licensed subscription service, to obtain high quality and low cost imagery statewide at a resolution of 15cm or 6 inch, and 30cm or 12 inch for rural areas. Texas’ imagery program thrives with the combination of low cost imagery, generous terms of usage, and the Giza streaming platform.
Among the many benefits of using Giza to serve the data is the ability to track usage – how frequently are tiles being accessed and viewed across the state. this gives the imagery program managers the ability to optimize their cloud storage and archiving decisions. It also gives both the data managers and the data users the ability to estimate the ROI of their imagery consumption. To visit the Texas Imagery Program website for more details, click here.
