In addition to her full-time position as Assistant Director of Local Government at AppGeo, Michele Giorgianni is leading a GIS class at Goodwin College, in East Hartford, CT this spring. The class is providing Introductory GIS training for students in the environmental studies program.
“Michele is not only an exemplary AppGeo consultant, but she keeps finding ways to give back to the GIS community,” said Kate Hickey, Vice President. “This instructorship is only the latest example. She also currently serves as Chair of the Rhode Island GIS (RIGIS) Executive Committee.”
“Educating and inspiring the next generation of geospatial IT professionals is even more critical today given the rapid pace of technology change along with the expanding demand for location-based services in our daily lives,” said Rich Grady, President. “We are proud of the many ways our staff shares their knowledge, such as Michele’s teaching at Goodwin College, Guido Stein’s Boston-area geospatial event organizing, and Peter Girard’s role as an Advisor at Wentworth College, to name but a few examples.
