Geospatial Technology for Enhanced Safety and Security

The homeland security and public safety communities recognize the central role that geography plays in improving situational awareness, in creating a common operational picture, and in developing and presenting strategic and tactical information.  AppGeo is involved in several initiatives to develop and apply spatial technologies that are enhancing homeland security and public safety at the national and local level.   Highlights of some of these initiatives are:

    • Supporting the refinement and development of data schemas for standardizing and efficiently storing national critical infrastructure data
    • Developing tools for schema-to-schema mapping (SDSFIE to HSIP) and metadata tracking from multiple sources
    • Acquiring, reviewing, integrating and documenting geospatial data for critical infrastructure
    • Application design and development for force protection assessment at different stages of alert
    • Crime incident mapping and analysis tools for local police departments
    • Tools for emergency management planning and infrastructure identification and mapping
    • Incorporating mapping capabilities into emergency notification system software
    • Mapping applications integrated with E911 for informing dispatchers and first responders
