Geospatial Data Development
Boston Preparedness Pilot Project

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and MassGIS initiated a project to build an integrated and essential geospatial database in support of homeland defense and emergency preparedness for greater Boston, an area including Boston and the 103 surrounding municipalities. AppGeo supported this effort by acquiring, reviewing, selecting, integrating and documenting geospatial data layers; by interviewing first responders to better understand operational and data quality requirements; and by preparing recommendations for spatial data accuracy, cost effectiveness, and coordination for distributed data collection and integration. GIS Analysis, Modeling and Cartography
Metropolitan Area Planning Commission (MAPC)
AppGeo provided a full range of GIS analysis, modeling, and cartographic services that assisted MAPC with its Metrofuture project to evaluate the impacts of different scenarios of population and demand growth and infrastructure development to the year 2030 for an area encompassing more than 150 municipalities in the greater Boston region.  AppGeo constructed specialized tabletop maps for public meetings that allowed a participatory, map-based approach to scenario development and public education.

Custom GIS Web-site Development
Town of Dedham, Massachusetts -

Click "On-line GIS Viewer" in the Related Links pane on the left
AppGeo developed a simple-to-use yet highly interactive GIS Web site that was designed to provide property and utility data access to Town Hall users and the general public. In addition to detailed property record information, including a property record card, the site makes orthophoto, utility and planimetric spatial data available. The site also provides access to an archive of over 30,000 digital street level photos, and a flexible parcel abutters application that delivers mailing labels in PDF format. The site has been well received and is used extensively: During a typical week the site generates in excess of 4,000 maps.

GIS Strategic and Business Planning
National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) under contract to the Federal Geographic Data Committe (FGDC)

AppGeo developed
strategic and business planning templates and documentation for statewide GIS coordination councils. The goal of the project was to advance statewide spatial data infrastructures in support of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). The standardized templates will provide guidance for states to promote sound business practices, increase coordination and involvement of stakeholders, and avoid duplication of effort in their planning and implementation of statewide GIS.
