A Foundation for GIS Strategic and Business Planning
The National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) selected Applied Geographics, Inc. (AppGeo) to develop strategic and business planning templates and documentation for statewide GIS coordination councils.  The goal of the project is to advance statewide spatial data infrastructures in support of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).   The standardized templates provide guidance for states to promote sound business practices, increase coordination and involvement of stakeholders, and avoid duplication of effort.  AppGeo is working on several projects to help states use these templates to guide development of their geospatial infrastructure.
Links to Project Documents: Strategic Plan Template Strategic Planning Process Map Business Plan Template Project documents were created by AppGeo in cooperation with a committee of diverse stakeholders from the Geospatial Community, and produced for the National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) under contract to the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC).
